Rabbi Eli Mansour
Rabbi Eli Joseph Mansour is a Sephardic Orthodox rabbi of Syrian Jewish descent. He is an eminent Torah scholar and a renowned and highly sought after speaker. Currently, he leads a congregation of Sephardic Jews of Syrian, Lebanese, Egyptian, and Morrocan backgrounds in Brooklyn, N.Y. Rabbi Eli Mansour was born in 1968. He attended community yeshivot graduating
Magen David Yeshivah and Shaare Torah High School. He then went to Israel where
he studied at Mercaz HaTorah. Upon returning home he continued to learn in
various places including Ateret Torah in Brooklyn, and the Bet Midrash Gavoha in
Lakewood, NJ. He then joined the prestigious Keter Sion Kollel to learn under the guidance of
Rabbi Max Maslaton. He received simichah in 1998. He continues to advance his learning at the Keter
Sion Kollel on a daily and weekly basis. The Rabbi and his wife currently have (b'li ayin
ha'ra) several children.
Congregation Bet Yaakob
Rabbi Mansour
currently serves as Rabbi to a congregation known as Bet Yaakob. The
Congregation is currently, temporarily, housed in the Ahaba ve Ahva Synagogue at the
corner of Avenue R & Ocean Parkway in Brooklyn. Plans are in the works to erect a permanent
facility with Rabbi Mansour as Rosh Bet Kennesset and spiritual leader. The Rabbi gives daily classes
in mishnah, gemara, halachah, torah, neviim, and a variety of subjects relevant
to the sephardic and orthodox community, some of which are available online.
Rabbi Mansour has lead Bet Yaakob congregation since 1996. Bet Yaakob has been
previously housed at the Ahi Ezer Torah Center
and later at Har Halebanon. In September 2008 the congregation moved to Ahaba ve Ahva of Ocean Parkway. Extensive renovations and work to the building was done in order to
accommodate the congregation. The synagogue now seats over 400 people and is frequently filled to capacity during the rabbis weekly Seuda Shelishit lecture.
Bet Yaakob is named after the well known philanthropist Jack Dolf Cohen,
previous owner and co-founder of Duane-Reade Stores. Jack D. Cohen and his
family have been pivotal to the growth of the congregation. The Cohen family continues to advise the
synagogue and community on many affairs. Jack Dolf Cohen has helped erect
several of the Syrian
Jewish communities' main institutions and is known worldwide for his charity
and kindness. May God bless Jack D. Cohen and his family with success,
long life, health, wealth, happiness and all their hearts desires.

as his opinion has been accepted by Sephardic Jews. Furthermore, most of the
customs discussed follow Sephardic tradition. Lastly, a great emphasis has been
placed to recognize the opinion of Chacham Ovadia Yosef shilita, Chief Sephardic
